You can still upgrade to Windows 10 for free

Microsoft plans to discontinue support for the Windows 7 operating system from January 14, 2020. According to the company’s official policy, all Windows 7 users who want to upgrade to Windows 10 now have to pay $ 120. However, in practice, many manage to upgrade for free.

As enthusiasts and lucky ones report, if you upgrade your computer using the Media Creation Tool, then you can activate the installation of the new Windows 10 with the existing key without any problems.

The system works only for already activated Windows 7, 8 or 8.1, only for “In-Place Updates” and does not work with a clean installation of Windows 10. That is, for a free update after downloading the Media Creation Tool, you must select the option “Update this computer now” , not Create installation media.

In 2015, Microsoft promised a free upgrade for all “legitimate” Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 for free for the first year from the system’s release. Officially, the free upgrade period ended in December 2017.

You can still upgrade to Windows 10 for free. And that’s why
On the Reddit social media site, a self-proclaimed Microsoft employee confirmed that a free upgrade to Windows 10 is still available. He stated that the entire “free upgrade” was an advertising ploy, and Microsoft did not even bother to fix a loophole that had been widely used for years. However, he warned that caution must be exercised, since with a “clean installation” the loophole will not work.
