By the end of 2021, the German manufacturer expects to produce a million serial BMW i4 sedans.
Since the annual Geneva auto show has been canceled, automakers have switched to virtual premieres. BMW today unveiled the i4 concept electric car.
The car, the production of a serial version of which is planned for 2021, is built on a new platform, which is universal for electric vehicles, ICE cars and with hybrid power plants. The platform’s flexibility will allow this year to release the battery version of the popular X3 SUV, as well as the futuristic iNext.
As for the BMW i4 sedan, it is positioned as a direct competitor to the Tesla Model 3. The concept uses a fifth-generation eDrive transmission and a 390 kW electric motor. He will be able to accelerate the car from 0 to 100 km / h in about 4 seconds. The maximum speed will be 200 km / h. The battery capacity is 80 kWh, which should be enough to travel up to 600 km without recharging. In the interior design, a curved display attracts attention, the information on which varies depending on the operating mode. It is planned that the display and other design features will be preserved in serial sedans.
BMW i4 electric cars will be produced at an enterprise in Munich. By the end of 2021, the manufacturer expects to produce 1 million units.
