Tesla CEO Elon Musk has announced that he plans to build the company’s next plant near the German capital.
The manufacturer of electric vehicles will also create a design and development center near the new Berlin airport.
“Some of the best cars in the world are obviously made in Germany,” Musk said at an event attended by the CEOs of Volkswagen AG, Audi AG and BMW AG. He added that the country is “not far behind” in terms of electric vehicles, but acknowledged that the market is “not confirmed” for them.
Musk said that Britain lost the chance to become the venue for the first European factory Tesla due to exit from the European Union.
According to the German Minister of Economics, the plant will create from 6,000 to 7,000 jobs directly involved in production.
