In November 2019, SpaceX announced the successful testing of the Crew Dragon passenger spacecraft. After a series of successful tests, the company is ready to announce the date of the first passenger flight. The lucky ones will be able to spend almost a week on a space cruise far from Earth.
As it became known, SpaceX signed an agreement with Space Adventures for the first flight with four star tourists. Before setting off to space exploration, all four will spend several weeks at Cape Canaveral, Florida, where they will take a training course.
In orbit of the Earth tourists will stay 5 days. It is reported that they will fly away from the planet to a distance at which there has not been a single person in the last 50 years. The journey itself is scheduled for the end of 2021 – beginning of 2022, depending on how successful the mission to deliver astronauts to the ISS in the spring of 2020 will be.
“Creating unique opportunities for individuals in space is why Space Adventures exist,” said Eric Anderson, chairman of Space Adventures.
At the end of 2019, SpaceX managed to land the Crew Dragon using the Mark 3 parachute system, and then the reliability of the spacecraft was demonstrated by conducting a controlled explosion of the Falcon 9 launch vehicle.
