Sony stops developing smartphones

The Japanese giant manufacturer Sony is currently not very well in the smartphone market. Over the past few months, there have been active rumors about the possible closure of the smartphone division, although Sony claims that it continues to be very important for the company.

If a couple of years ago the company sold a million Xperia smartphones every month, then this year sales amounted to only 900,000 smartphones in the first quarter and 600,000 units in the second quarter

Listed below are sales for recent years:
2017: 13.5 million
2018: 6.5 million
2019: 2.5 million (forecast)

Now there is information that Sony has canceled the development of several models of smartphones, planning to save resources for other, more profitable units.
