Sierra Wireless has announced the expansion of its portfolio of “mobile broadband embedded modules for mobile computing, routers, gateways, industrial automation and new IoT applications such as robotics, drones and private networks.”
The new 5G and 4G LTE Sierra Wireless modules are designed for next-generation devices using low-latency broadband connectivity in enterprise networks, cloud computing, real-time streaming and video broadcasting, electronic games, smart factories, robotics , virtual reality and machine learning.
Sierra Wireless 5G EM919x and 4G LTE Cat-20 EM769x modules are already being tested by OEMs and system integrators. The basis of the modules is the Qualcomm Snapdragon X55 5G radio frequency modem system. The M.2 form factor modules support 5G NR mmWave, 5G NR sub-6 GHz and LTE technologies in all regions of the world, as defined in 3GPP version 15.
The company expects to start mass deliveries in the third quarter.
