Samsung introduced the world’s first laptops with OLED screens

Samsung today introduced a couple of new laptops: Galaxy Book Flex and Galaxy Book Ion. New items differ in form factor, but are very similar in basic parameters.

Both laptops are available in two versions with screens with a diagonal of 13.3 and 15.6 inches. All versions use QLED panels with Full HD resolution – a first for the market. In all, the maximum RAM capacity is 16 GB, everywhere SSDs up to 1 TB are installed, all models use tenth-generation Intel Core processors, but in the case of Book Flex we are talking about CPU Ice Lake, and Book Ion has CPU Comet Lake.

It is also worth noting the presence of a Wi-Fi 6 adapter, AKG stereo speakers, a fingerprint scanner, a 69.7 Wh battery and even wireless charging (for charging other devices) – all this is in any of the new products.

Galaxy Book Flex, as you might guess from the name, is a convertible laptop, the design of which allows you to turn it into a kind of tablet. There is support for the S Pen stylus, and it seems to come with the kit. It is also worth noting the presence of a discrete graphics card GeForce MX250 as an option in the 15-inch version. A set of ports, regardless of the modification of Book Flex, is presented by Thunderbolt 3 (x2), USB-C and a microSD slot with support for UFS cards.

The dimensions of the smaller version are 302.6 x 202.9 x 12.9 mm with a mass of 1.15 kg, the larger – 355 x 227.2 x 14.9 mm with a mass of 1.52-1.57 kg.

Galaxy Book Ion is positioned by the manufacturer as a solution for professionals. At the same time, these laptops are lighter. More specifically, the 13-inch version has dimensions of 305.7 x 199.8 x 12.9 mm with a mass of 0.97 kg, and the dimensions of the 15-inch version is 356.1 x 228 x 14.9 mm with a mass of 1.19- 1.26 kg. In this case, the older model can also be equipped with a GeForce MX250 graphics card. In addition, the 15-inch Book Ion has an additional slot for installing RAM and an additional port for installing SSD. The set of ports on this laptop includes Thunderbolt 3, a pair of USB 3.0, a microSD slot, and one HDMI.

New items will appear on sale in December, but there are no prices yet.
