Today, Volkswagen introduced its new electric car at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The novelty received a universal body type, and this feature is emphasized in its name – ID Space Vizzion.
In fact, ID Space Vizzion is the same ID Vizzion sedan introduced in Geneva last year, but in a different wrapper and with a different body type: wagon instead of a sedan. But in fact, ID Space Vizzion is already the seventh Volkswagen electric concept after the ID 3 hatchback, ID R sports car, ID Roomzz and ID Crozz crossovers, ID Buggy buggy, ID Buzz minibus and, in fact, ID Vizzion sedan.
The basic version of ID Space Vizzion will be equipped with a 275-hp electric motor located on the rear axle. But the plans also have an all-wheel drive option – the total capacity of its power plants will be 355 hp. Estimated power reserve when using a battery pack with a capacity of 82 kWh – 485 km according to the EPA method. For a rather big car (the wheelbase approximately corresponds to the Volkswagen Atlas / Teramont wheelbase) this is a good result.
Inside the electric car is a large 15.6-inch display on the center console and an additional smaller screen in the dashboard. However, the company considers a more suitable way to perceive information is to display the main parameters on the windshield. Apparently, such a system will already be in the database.
The station wagon received a panoramic roof, touchpads instead of traditional door handles (they are bad in terms of aerodynamics), as well as longboards stored in a special niche in the trunk. Apparently, among the target audience of the model, marketers see a lot of young people.
But whether young people can afford such a car is not clear: the cost has not yet been announced. ID Space Vizzion will go on sale in the USA in 2022.
