Photokina 2020 canceled

And next year she will not be either.
Three weeks ago, the organizers of the Photokina 2020 exhibition held a press conference in Cologne, at which they, in particular, raised the issue of the possible cancellation of this event in connection with the COVID-19 outbreak.

Although by that time some companies, including Leica, Nikon, and Olympus, had already announced their decision not to participate in the exhibition, the management of the Koelnmesse exhibition center said that there was no reason to cancel it yet.

However, today on the exhibition website a message appeared about its cancellation.

It says that after “intensive consultations”, Koelnmesse GmbH decided to cancel the event, originally scheduled for May 27-30, 2020. The next Photokina exhibition is scheduled to be held from May 18 to May 21, 2022.

Moreover, the management of Koelnmesse decided not to organize any events at the exhibition center until the end of June 2020. This decision is consistent with the recommendation published yesterday by the Cologne Crisis Management Group to refuse to hold such events in this period.

According to the organizers of Photokina, when planning the next exhibition for 2022, they took into account several factors, in particular, the desire to give all interested parties enough time to prepare.
