Analysts at Digitimes Research believe the outbreak of coronavirus will greatly affect the notebook market. The outbreak caused by a serious lack of manpower and components, as well as interruptions in supply disrupt the work of ODM manufacturers in China, where more than 90% of all laptops are assembled.
According to Digitimes Research, in the current quarter notebook shipments will fall by 29-36% compared to the previous quarter. Note that this is a new forecast. Earlier, a 17% reduction in supply was forecasted.
Nowadays, almost one third of the capacity is used at assembly plants. It affects the slow return of employees to jobs due to 14-day quarantine for those who resume work after the break associated with the celebration of the New Year and extended due to an outbreak of coronavirus. In addition, manufacturers do not have sufficient supplies of minor components that they are used to receiving regularly.
