First performance tests: the new 16 “MacBook Pro has a good graphics card

Typically, the MacBook Pro 16 is seen as purely working tools, and Apple’s new 16-inch laptop is not bad in this regard. However, it also has quite good game performance – playing at high settings in FHD on it is quite real.

If the graphics subsystem of the flagship Apple is really new and it is much more productive than what was in the last 15-inch models, then the processors have not changed much. Apple itself, as usual, does not indicate the CPU models on its website, but these are the same ninth-generation Core i7 and Core i9 that were used in the latest versions of the 15-inch MacBook Pro. This means that you should not expect a large increase in productivity, and tests confirm this.

But it’s hard to find fault with the GPU performance gain. In particular, in the game Shadow of the Tomb Raider Radeon Pro 5500M, the Vega Pro 20 is 25% faster, and the twofold advantage over the Radeon Pro 560X is quite impressive. The new graphics card allows you to work faster in Final Cut Pro X, which is quite expected. For example, in the author’s tests, the new Apple laptop is 25-35% faster than its predecessor, and this is a lot.
