Today, AMD’s top-end mobile processor is the Ryzen 7 4800H. However, we have repeatedly seen references to the Ryzen 9 4900H in one form or another.
There was no data about him before. There were suggestions that this could be a 12-core model, but this is hardly possible, since the Ryzen 4000 mobiles use a single crystal, which contains only 8 cores. This means that to create a 12-core Ryzen 9 4900H, AMD would have to create a separate crystal, which is not economically feasible.
Actually, the new data just indicates that the Ryzen 9 4900HS is an eight-core processor. Yes, in this case we are talking about Ryzen 9 4900HS, and not Ryzen 9 4900H. As with the Ryzen 7 4800H, we are talking about a semi-custom processor designed specifically for Asus.
This APU operates at frequencies of 3.0-4.4 GHz. For comparison, the Ryzen 7 4800H has a frequency of 2.9-4.2 GHz, that is, the difference is small. But at the same time, the Ryzen 9 4900HS is rumored (so far there is no confirmation) there is a GPU in the maximum configuration, that is, Vega 8. For comparison, the Ryzen 7 4800H is Vega 7.
As for the source of the leak, this is an online store in which the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 laptops (GA401IV-HA037), just based on the Ryzen 9 4900HS, lit up. The laptop also comes with a 14-inch QHD screen, 16 GB of RAM and a GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q graphics card. For all this they ask about 1900 euros.
In addition to the processor, the laptop is also interesting with a very unusual cover design. It is metal and has 6,536 tiny holes, some of which have 1,215 mini-LEDs. And this backlight is, of course, customizable, so that on the lid you can depict anything you want.
Returning to the processor, most likely, in addition to the Ryzen 9 4900HS, there will also be a regular Ryzen 9 4900H with slightly higher frequencies.
