Microsoft has closed the application store for old smartphones

But support for Windows 10 Mobile is extended.
Microsoft has officially closed the Windows Store online app store for devices in the Windows Phone 8.1 mobile operating system.

The store stopped working on December 16, 2019. Now you can not install new or reinstall old applications. As the company promises, Windows Phone 8.1 smartphones and all applications that have already been downloaded from the store will continue to work. However, users may experience a further reduction in functionality because updates will stop coming from the store.

Some smartphones can still be updated to the more recent Windows 10 Mobile. However, Windows 10 Mobile will also cease to be supported very soon. Initially, Microsoft planned to finally discontinue official support for the latest version of its Windows 10 Mobile (1709) platform on December 10, 2019. However, at the last moment, she changed her mind and extended her support until January 14, 2020.
