Major iPhone factories still not resume work

In connection with the outbreak of coronavirus in China, there are a lot of rumors and supposedly verified data on the situation with the production of Apple smartphones on the Web.

There are conflicting data. But today, a well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo published his information. According to him, the Foxconn plant in Zhengzhou, which is the iPhone’s main production site, has not yet resumed operation, although it was supposed to do this on February 2. It is at this plant that Apple’s current models are manufactured, and iPhone SE 2 / iPhone 9 should also be produced.

The next-generation iPhone development team based at Foxconn’s Shenzhen plant has not stopped working, but the rest of the plant has not yet returned to work. It was supposed to happen today, but quarantine was extended for at least a week.

Shanghai Pegatron factory, which is responsible for both the production of current iPhones and the development of a new generation iPhone, resumed work on February 3. The Pegatron factory, responsible for the production of the iPhone SE 2 / iPhone 9, has not yet resumed operation and will be idle for at least another week.

Kuo makes no predictions, noting that there are still too many uncertainties, but says there are risks of delays. As you can see, so far most of the main factories responsible for the iPhone have not returned to work.
