At the time, Raspberry Pi single-board PCs made a small revolution in the market, and since then more than 30 million such devices have been sold worldwide. In addition, a whole segment of such tiny PCs has appeared.
Often they are based on single-chip systems with ARM architecture, but there are exceptions. PICO-WHU4 is one of them. This is a completely untypical single board PC.
Firstly, it is based on a full-fledged mobile Intel processor, and not on the “atomic” one, or even on a super-energy efficient one. The device is based on the Core i5-8365UE with four cores, support for Hyper-Threading, frequencies of 1.6-4.1 GHz, the graphics core UHD 620 and TDP 15 watts. That is, it is a full-fledged and highly productive mobile processor. Of course, and it costs respectively – 300 dollars. And this means that PICO-WHU4 itself cannot be available. Its price is $ 783, and it is probably one of the most expensive single board PCs.
At the same time, for this money you will not get a device that is immediately ready for use – it simply does not have any RAM or storage. For the former, there is a SO-DIMM slot, and for the latter, mini-PCIe and mSATA. A set of ports for the device to match the rest: two RJ45, two USB 3.2, two HDMI 1.4b, as well as connectors for the implementation of two RS-232/422/485 ports, two USB 2.0 and GPIO x 4.
