Kioxia launches supplies of up to 1 TB of embedded storage devices to UFS 3.1 specification

Kioxia announced the start of the supply of trial samples of embedded flash drives that comply with the UFS 3.1 specification, which was adopted recently – at the end of last month. These drives are well suited for modern mobile devices, because they are characterized by a combination of high performance and low power consumption.

The drives use Kioxia BiCS FLASH. Four volume options are available: 128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB.

The 11.5 x 13 mm JEDEC-standardized drive enclosure contains flash memory and controller crystals, which are responsible for error correction, wear leveling, logical and physical address translation, and management of faulty units, which simplifies system design.

Among the innovations that have found application in new drives, we can distinguish WriteBooster (provides an increase in write speed by 2-3 times), Host Performance Booster Ver 1.0 (improves random read performance by using memory on the host side) and UFS-DeepSleep Power Mode ( provides reduced power consumption in sleep mode compared to UFS-Sleep Power Mode). In addition, the drive supports the function of notification of a decrease in performance due to overheating.
