Japan Display Inc (JDI) has announced the start of mass production of 2.1-inch LCD panels for virtual reality headsets. The panel resolution is 1600 x RGB x 1600 pixels. The pixel density is 1,058 pixels per inch.
The panel uses LTPS and IPS technologies. The pixel response time is declared equal to 4.5 ms. The refresh rate is 120 Hz. Typical brightness is 430 cd / m2.
The manufacturer attributes the advantages of the panel to a special optical design that makes VR glasses thinner and lighter. Allegedly, these panels are already used in VR glasses, which are on the market.
