Hyundai Motor Company introduced a new generation of Elantra sedan, as well as a hybrid version of the car (for the first time in the history of the model). The new Elantra is made in the Hyundai corporate style “Sensuous Sportiness”, the dimensions of the car have increased. Length is 4650 mm (+30 mm), width – 1825 mm (+25 mm), height – 1420 mm (-20 mm). Wheelbase increased by 20 mm to 2720 mm. Wheel diameters can range from 15 to 17 inches.
The car’s interior also increased significantly. Designers claim that the cabin, which received the layout called “immersive cocoon”, resembles an airplane cockpit (no photos yet). The driver’s seat is separated from the front passenger area. In some trim levels, the model will receive two 10.25-inch screens: a digital dashboard and a multimedia display.
The design of the new Elantra uses the style of “parametric dynamics” (Parametric Dynamics), the main technique of which is the connection of three lines at one point. This goes against industry-accepted canons. The car received a wide cascading grille, which forms a single element with headlights. The sloping roofline emphasizes the resemblance of the new Elantra to the coupe.

In the US market, Elantra received a “digital key” that allows you to unlock the central lock and start the engine using a smartphone or other NFC-enabled device. The car is equipped with an automatic braking system with pedestrian recognition, lane holding function and driver fatigue detection system.

The basic version will be equipped with an analog dashboard with a small onboard computer display in the center, a system for selecting driving modes, an multimedia system with an eight-inch touch screen and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto systems.
The new Elantra will be offered with two gasoline naturally aspirated engines: 1.6 liters with a capacity of 123 hp. and 2.0 liters with a capacity of 150 hp The power plant of the first-ever hybrid version of the Elantra is based on the Atkinson 1.6-liter GDI four-cylinder engine. The car is equipped with a lithium-ion-polymer battery with a capacity of 1.32 kWh, located under the rear seats. The 1.6 GDI engine in combination with an electric motor provides a total power of 139 hp. power and 264 Nm of torque.

Production of a new generation will begin in the fall, and sales will start in the fourth quarter of 2020.
