Apple may be on horseback, but Xiaomi remains the leader in the Indian smartphone market for the second year in a row.
The Indian smartphone market in 2019 surpassed the US market for the first time, becoming the second largest smartphone market in the world. In total, 158 million devices were sold in India in a year, which is 7% more than in 2018.
Such data are contained in a report prepared by counterpoint analysts. Analysts explain the growth with increasing sales of mid-range devices, in which Chinese brands have aggressively introduced many flagship features and capabilities to meet the demand from users who want to update their first or second smartphone. The second factor was the active promotion of online channels.
Xiaomi remains the leader in the Indian smartphone market for the second year in a row. At the end of 2019, the share of the Chinese manufacturer was 28%. In second place is Samsung. The share of the South Korean company is 21%. Third place goes to Vivo with 16%. The top five also include Realme and Oppo with 10% and 9% respectively.
What about Apple? She is known to be on horseback. Occupying 2%, it swallows dust that reaches for market leaders.
