The complaint was filed by the Irish company Neodron.
According to the source, the US International Trade Commission (ITC) said yesterday that it would open an investigation against global technology giants, including Samsung and Apple, in connection with a complaint about patent infringement related to the operation of touch screens.
The commission clarifies that the decision to conduct an investigation should not be regarded as a sign that a decision has been taken on the merits.
The complaint was filed in February by the Neodron Irish Patent Troll. This is not the first time he has blamed such large technology firms. The most recent example is a lawsuit filed a month ago against Apple.
The complaint filed with ITC also includes Amazon, Asus, LG, Motorola Mobility, Microsoft, Samsung and Sony.
The completion date of the investigation will be determined within the next 45 days.
