Huawei’s alternative to Google Play conquers smartphones and developers

The number of applications in AppGallery has exceeded 55 thousand.
Huawei has reported on its alternatives to Google services at the Huawei Developer Day event.

In particular, the company said that in the online app store AppGallery, an alternative to Google Play, the number of registered developers grew to 1.3 million, and the number of applications exceeded 55 thousand.

At the same time, the HMS Core service suite now includes 24 useful tools, including the Maps Kit, Machine Learning Kit, Scan Kit, Account Kit and Payments Kit.

Currently, AppGallery is available in more than 170 countries and serves about 400 million active users per month.

AppGallery has a category of “fast” applications Quick Apps, focused on 5G-devices. Quick Apps do not require installation on the device and use minimal system memory. The user can simply click on the application’s shortcut in the store and it will start immediately. This category is growing rapidly – there are currently over 1,700 “fast” apps available in the App Gallery.

According to Huawei, AppGallery is one of the three largest mobile app stores in the world. Huawei CEO Richard Yu said:

“In the future, we will continue to expand the ecosystem of Huawei AppGallery applications, hoping not only to create a safe and reliable platform, but also provide consumers with a wider choice. The success of this ecosystem will remain one of our company’s top priorities.”
