Huawei Technologies plans to move its research center from the USA to Canada. This was announced by company founder Ren Zhengfei in a recent interview with Canadian company Globe and Mail.
The plans of the largest manufacturer of telecommunications equipment became known after Reuters reported that the United States is trying to block the supply of foreign products that use US technology to Huawei. Recall that in May, the United States itself introduced a ban on the supply of Huawei American products.
According to Globe and Mail, last year, Huawei spent $ 510 million on the activities of its US research unit. Recently, the staff of this unit has been reduced from 600 to 250 people.
Huawei’s plans also include the construction of new production facilities in Europe, which will produce equipment for 5G networks.
