DxOMark laboratory specialists published the test results of the front camera of the latest flagship smartphone Huawei P40 Pro, which until then had topped the rating of the best camera phones in terms of the quality of the main camera.
In the front camera test, the Huawei P40 Pro received 108 points for photo quality and 95 points for video quality, and the overall result was 104 points. This allowed the new product to lead the rating of the best self-phones.
The review authors noted that the Huawei P40 Pro was tested with the Face Beautification feature turned off. The camera firmware used for DxOMark tests is currently not yet available to consumers; Huawei will make it available in the near future.
The main advantages of a selfie camera include exposure, color, noise, flash and bokeh, and the Huawei P40 Pro slightly improves the results of previous best devices in all these categories. The bokeh shots are especially impressive thanks to the special P40 Pro infrared sensor, which provides a good estimate of depth and precise blurring around the subject.
The same goes for video: Huawei’s latest front-facing camera delivers best-in-class results both outdoors and indoors. In low light, noise and a slightly unnatural skin tone are noticeable, but in good light the quality is excellent.
