Hackers hacked the oldest domain name registrar

Network Solutions was the first and for a long time the only domain name registrar in the world. Now it belongs to Web.com and is the fifth in the ranking of registrars.

According to Web.com, on October 30, all three registrars became victims of a data leak in August 2019. Allegedly, during the incident, no credit card data was stored that is encrypted using the PCI (Payment Card Industry) standard. At the same time, the company encourages customers to monitor their card accounts and notify banks if suspicious expenses are noticed.

Information obtained by hackers includes contact information such as names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses, and information about the services used by the account holder. Although passwords that are also stored in encrypted form are not mentioned in the list of data that has become available to attackers, users are asked to change their account passwords.
