Google Chrome will finally become less gluttonous in Windows 10

Google Chrome is notorious for its RAM consumption, especially on Windows. Fortunately, this will be fixed. The latest update for Windows (20H1) brought various improvements, for example, Win32 applications such as Google Chrome can reduce overall memory usage.

The new Segment Heap value introduced by Microsoft for developers in the latest Windows 10 update is a modern implementation of the so-called heap. According to company representatives from Redmond, this “will generally reduce overall memory usage” on devices running Windows 10 (version 2004 or later).

The software giant also confirmed that it has already begun using this new Segment Heap value in its latest Chromium-based Edge browser. The statement also mentions that memory usage has been reduced by 27%.

In the same way, Google Chrome developers can make similar changes to take advantage of this new implementation. The source confirms that in reality, the consumption of RAM Google Chrome can be reduced by hundreds of megabytes.

It is not yet known when this will be implemented in the stable version of Google Chrome.
