Sales dipped by almost 40%.
We have repeatedly heard forecasts regarding the impact of the coronavirus outbreak on various market sectors, including smartphones. And now we can look at the first real data.
Statistics provided by CAICT analysts indicate that smartphone shipments in China fell 38.9% last month to 20.8 million units. The source does not compare these data with earlier results, but most likely this is the worst indicator for many years.
The source also notes that the supply of Chinese brands fell even more – by 42.9%. Against this background, the fact that in January 34 new mobile phone models came out in China, is 6.3% more than last year.
Some analysts believe that in the first quarter, the Chinese smartphone market will sag by more than 30%. What will be the results in other markets, see later.
