The marketers of the Burger King fast food restaurant chain drew attention to a funny crash in Tesla’s autopilot and wrapped it to their advantage in a new commercial.
In April, Tesla updated the electric vehicle software, adding the function of detecting traffic lights and stop signs to the autopilot, followed by deceleration or stop if necessary. The function is still under testing and does not always work correctly.
In the new Burger King commercial, attention is drawn to the fact that the new autopilot test function confuses the Burger King restaurant sign with a stop sign. As a result, the car slows down and stops near such round Burger King roadside billboards.
Burger King also invited users to upload videos and photos confirming this failure, offering a code for a free burger for participants.
