BMW plans to bring the share of hybrid and electric cars to a quarter of the total output already in 2021.
BMW today announced that it is increasing the production of powertrains for electric vehicles at its plant in Dingolfing, Bavaria. To this end, this year the number of relevant employees of the enterprise will be increased from the current 600 to 1,400. In the medium term, the staff will be increased to 2,000. In total, the plant, located 85 kilometers northeast of Munich, employs about 18,000 people, which is comparable to the population of Dingolfing. The company produces BMW 3, 4, 7 and 8 series cars.
Responding to toughening the rules limiting harmful emissions into the atmosphere, automakers are switching to the production of hybrid and electric cars. BMW plans to increase the share of hybrid and electric cars to a quarter of the total output already in 2021.
