Apple will have to open the NFC module in the iPhone for third-party developers

The NFC module appeared in Apple smartphones for a very long time, but the company does not allow its third-party applications to be used, so in fact it is only used in the Apple Pay service.

Soon, however, Apple will probably have to change its policy. In at least one country. Reportedly, a law has been passed in Germany that requires electronic payment infrastructure operators to offer competitors access to their platforms for a reasonable fee.

Simply put, Apple will be required to give third-party developers access to the NFC module in their smartphones if they want to. Let not for free.

Apple has already commented on the new law, expressing surprise and concern. The company claims that the law can be harmful to user convenience and data protection.
